In addition to the items I mentioned here I now have £6.05p and am on to the next stage.
Woo-hoo!
The fnny thing is I have made no effort what-so-ever all I have done is pick up coins near my home. Honestly that's it. Once you start looking for them it's amazing how many you can find.
To celebrate I am going to do three things.
1. Move this blog to a new server.
2. Give away a series of ebooks to help other people that are aiming to reach a million
3. Write here every week without fail for an entire year fromt he release ofthe first free ebook.
Okay so there have been no updates for a while. That is because I have been extremely passive in my working of the attempt. Mainly I have been adding found coins to the pot and doing nicely with it. My contains £4.32 in tiny small change and in assets I have a book ready to sell and some dress jewelry worth up to £4 - £5 (for which I paid 70p), some junk card and a box of paints (£1.50).
However I am not willing to run them through my pay-pal account (it's a very busy place with lots going out and I would not see the money) so I am left with the option of holding on to it all. Still I have almost achieved my aim.
I have been re-reading my blog (that's what it is here for) and am remembering what had planned. It's got me good and fired up for getting on with the challenge. So you never know I might have something interesting to report.
Meanwhile on more regular news you can catch up ith what I have been doing at Thanet Star and also at the reactivated Lord Matt and Girth Watch sites. I will also be launching other blogs soon so I will keep you posted on all that as well as my challenge to convert 1p into a fortune via the "rules" linked to at the top of the page.
Please don't think I have run off and left you. I have plenty of news like the cash load of 1p and 2p coins recently uncovered clearing out some old boxes and I want to get as far the ebay stuff.
However, there is a lot of real life getting in the way of this experiment at the moment and I am needing to take time to deal with it. While I am dealing with it please take the time to read these sites where things I am doing or have done can be found:
SEO Book - all the SEO you will need to get massive traffic to your site. Currently I dare not read it because my server would not cope with much more of an increase.
Todays post is not about me (yes shame I know) but about others. To be specific I have gone looking for other doublers (why do yuou guys all blog on blog-spot?) and am going to link out to the ones that I feel write a good blog. You see, in my opinion as an SEO freak nd doubling blog freak when you blog it as your note pad you are also blogging and that is a craft in itself. Some writters litterly keep a rather flat log of investments and trades while others write very well.
This links are for those "others" - they deserve it. Now if you are not here it does not meanyou do not deserve it but that I did not link to you. I'm going to pick just a few choice doubler blogs and that is it.
There are others I liked that are worth looking at some better some worse but these re the one's a came to first. They are fellow doublers and worthy of a read. Go give a few a click.
My wife went shopping today and purchased a pile of dress jewlery at something of a bargen price. When she got back she offered to sell them to me at 5p an item. These items normally retail at arround £4.50 which is less than $10.
I am confident that even I can resell these earings, necklaces and bangles for more than 70p for the lot. I will photograph them soon (sooner than the never arriving book I still have) and post images here for a first refusal to my readers before putting them up on ebay.
Also I recently had my company buy two cases of padded envelopes so I should be able to get my packaging at cost too. All-in-all a sound investment I feel.
On a geeky note I have not forgotten that I would like to set up a site for all you bloggers stuck on blogger.com doing this doubling challenge. I need to upgrade some ahrdware but then I will be back onto it.
We you might have noticed that this blog went down there for a bit. That is because it is on the same server as my prime personal blog (The Fantastic Site) and it was getting hit good and hard by spam. I think I have that licked now so it is time to press on with the updates.
Art wise I painted my first oil canvas a few days ago. I'm quite pleased with the results but want to add a few extra touches once the paint is dry. Also it took a tiny bit of damage in while drying that will need a correction.
When I was little my dad (who is world class at this sort of thing) used to paint with oils all the time so I had a head start in that I have been able to watch a pro at work. None of this adds a penny to the pot (shame) but it puts me closer to being back in the arty swing of things after my first marriage all those years ago killed it all off. (Yes, I am still rediscovering who I am).
But what did put money in the pot was going to play in the yard with the kids. We live in a flat and so share our yard with other households. I found a total of 17p in small change while letting my children run about and let off steam. Some of those coins will be candidates for my Worst Coin Ever Quest which I will tell you about soon.
The good news is that if I want to claim victory and do it in dollars I need only reach £496,031.75p at the moment. But that's just cheating - I will be working in pounds even though that is currently over two million dollars. More on that in the post "Do you know about Dollars and Pounds" over at my personal blog.
This was almost a nice arty post about how after some set backs at work I stopped and took the time to paint a picture. I was going to be a small amster piece painted on waste card and framed useing a similar method. Iwas not even put off by needing to find my brushhes which I have not used in many years.
I was slightly miffed that my 4/0 triangular fine brush was dead but I pressed on. I managed to locate the craft knife and then found I had no cutting board. My wife informed me that the cutting board was in a draw that had so much stuff stacked against it that I gave up any hope of getting to it.
Instead I invented a new craft mat out of junk and returned to the living room to paint my master piece. My card was gone. After a search it transpired that my mother (who was visiting) had been "helpfull" and had thrown it in the bin. But not content with that she had screwed it up so that it was no use as a foundation for a picture.
It was at that point that I took the hint that today was not an art day. It was a getting ****-all done day. That is the exact total of my achievements today. Nothing.
I can see several nice shiny coins hanging about in my penny pot which tells me it is time to count them in. I will be doing that later but for now I am going to be doing some crafts. Later I will be talking about how you can use craft skills to expand your collection of coinage on the road to a million.
My wife was going into town so I gave her £1.20 to get a box of twelve acrylic paints. I used to be quite handy with them and once upon a time made stuff to give to my friends out of clay and other materials which I then painted. My plan is to recycle watse and junk into cool items people will want to buy.
Not for a lot you understand. Cost plus a small ammount will do for me. After all my target profit level is only £5.00 which is not a fortune.
I have not been idle in my quest but with the stress of being harassed for (what is now) seven months solid by my local council I have not exactly had much by the way of spare time. Not for anything.
However I have been putting the coins I find in a pot on my desk and then feeling guilty that I have not updated my journal of finds, attempts and results.
This is the update for all those other updates. It was prompted by a big search for the none standard cable used to directly attach the digital camera to the PC.
My 2 gigabyte SD card works fine in the camera but the reader in the printer does not want to play ball. Since we moved at the start of the year I had yet to use the camera direct to the PC. In my search for the blasted cable the wife noticed a stash of small change at the bottom of a box. This was all I needed to get down and sort out the box in question.
Added tot he other coins I have been picking up the finds today amount to 18p in coppers and 55p in silver for a total of 73p which is worth about US$1.51 or there about.
Adding it all up I now hold UK£3.02 which is worth about US$6.05 or there abouts.
This puts me on Step 14 of my plan and the quest to put a £5 together. I have a theory about this that relates to the development of civilization. I am currently at the hunter gatherer stage. Just foraging for berries and going where-ever coin is to be found. I am starting to form an idea about what is next but until I get into stages 15 and 16 I don't think I'll be ready for it.
The good news is that I will soon be publishing photo's of the book I will be selling. I will give my reader(s) the chance to jump in and nab it for a song first.
